Harbour Sessions: A Nordic Chamber Weekend
The shed holds two hundred people and no acoustic treatment at all, which the players either love or spend the first rehearsal complaining about. By the concert they love it.
Programmes are announced on the morning of each day. The organisers hold to this stubbornly, on the grounds that people came for the room rather than the repertoire.
Ferries pass roughly every forty minutes and the players have stopped pretending otherwise. Two of the commissioned pieces are written with gaps in them, timed to the schedule, and on Friday evening the timing held exactly once.
Saturday afternoon is given over to a single long piece played twice, with an hour between, so you can hear it once cold and once knowing where it goes.
The doors face north and stay open unless the wind turns. Blankets are stacked by the entrance for the reason you would expect.
